Believing that the calling to serve and give is essential for all with capacity and resources, the Sword & Spoon Group partners with like-minded friends to serve and strengthen individuals and communities in need.
We especially support projects that invite families to engage in service together, that encourage the families of those engaged in service, and that build the organizational capacity of nonprofits and government so that they can serve more effectively.
Since 2005, in more than 25 countries, we have helped to envision and encourage projects such as these:
- In Boston, we have worked with the Reverend Drs. Ray and Gloria White-Hammond, Bethel AME and the Bethel Institute for Social Justice, and with Reverend Hurmon Hamilton and the Roxbury Social Impact Center, to meet a variety of community needs.
- With World Vision, we have worked to provide medical assistance to women and children in war-torn Afghanistan, to develop clean water projects in South Sudan, and to befriend and support a Mexican border community.
- Guard Support serves the often overlooked families of Massachusetts National Guard members deployed overseas in an act of profound service.
- Consulting Within Reach builds the organizational capacity of nonprofits and government so they can do good more effectively.
